  Chapter Eight

Questions kept flying through his brain in the short time it took him to arrange the instruments in his case.

He looked back up into her eyes; and was again fixated on the spot.

“We may be technologically advanced by a thousand years, but people are still people.” said Aleena as she gazed into his eyes a few seconds more then turned and walked over to a console about two feet to her left. She leaned against the console in a seductive way. He black tight, suit showing a perfect, petite figure.

“Husbands still cheat on their wives, and wives still cheat on their husbands, politicians cheat the public. Teenagers still revolt against their parents, wear strange clothes, weird hairstyles, and experiment with sex, and listen to new emerging music. We still can't communicate with them. Society may be more hi-tech and healthier, but other than that, things haven’t changed in thousands of years.” she rubbed the point of injection, pulled off the tape and gauze and pulled her sleeve down.

“Another great Earth tradition we have taken to ourselves is rock and roll digital music collecting. I have a complete Beatles, Rolling Stones, and Madonna digital collection. I just wish I could have some copies in the old vinyl albums. Just owning some of the old vinyl records is a prestige itself. It is like owning a work of fine art; you display it proudly in your home in a place of prominence.” She said and walked back to where David was standing.

“I, uh, have a somewhat wide collection of vinyl albums of the Beatles, Stones, and Cheap Trick, The Animals, and a lot of other sixties groups that I have been collecting for decades. I probably have 350 vinyl albums all together in my collection with some duplicates. I've been collecting albums all though my teens and have inherited albums from my older brother and sister when they got CD players.” said David with a look of nostalgia on his face.

“I can’t believe that aliens that are light years away listen to our rock and roll.” he said wide eyed.

“Society hasn’t changed in a thousand years, and you’re reminiscing about your record collection?” she said with a chortle and a little snort.

“Well I didn’t expect much progress in the way society and humans act. Like you said, things haven’t changed in a thousand years, and won’t change in another two thousand years. People are individuals and what I like may not be what you like and that’s going to cause conflict and friction. No matter if it’s two people or two billion people.” said David still thinking of any possibilities with this woman.

“What about love on your planet?” she queried. She gave him a smoldering look.

  “Love?” he gulped.

“Is it hot in here or is it just me?” he said and removed his coat and placed it on his black bag on the floor.

“Yes, love. Does your planet enjoy long courtships or quickies on the first date? Do the people on your planet have love or just lust and sex? Do you communicate with someone you just met later that evening or do you wait for days so as not to appear anxious? Does your planet have love?” she asked anxiously and took and unconsciously squeezed his hand. Her eyes pleaded for an answer.

“Uh, well yes to all those questions. However, I don’t have any recent firsthand experience. I have been sort of out of the dating scene for a while.” replied David nervously enjoying her touch and he squeezed her hand back.

“Some people just date for sex, some people date to have a relationship. Love does exist on our planet, but it is very elusive. People can date for years, and never find that one person that is their soul mate; that one person where complete surrender is made to; that one person where love, trust, and complete involvement is not only given but returned as well. A soul mate is the one person to whom you can bare your soul and they bare theirs back to you. No secrets, no games; one person in two bodies. I had a soul mate once and lost her.” said David with sadness in his voice and a one shoulder shrug.

“Really love like that exists on Earth?" she questioned excitedly again.

"You experienced all those emotions? Did she leave you? I cannot imagine that. You are such a gentleman, intelligent and educated; manly yet sensitive. I cannot imagine a woman leaving you.” said Aleena breathlessly her green eyes dancing.

“My wife was killed by a drunk driver two years ago.” said David. He hung his head and stared at the deck.

“You have my deepest sympathy.” she said and released his hand and stroked his cheek lightly with the back of her fingers, sending chills up and down David’s spine.

David looked at Aleena and gave her a weak smile.

“On our planet, we have long courtships. Our traditions have always included long courtships and doing everything together. Immediate gratification can be nice, but not within a new relationship. We have to know each other for at least a year before we get intimate. We travel with each other, play with each other and we share our dreams, our hopes, and our insecurities. We do touch each in other seductive ways and play with each other in the nude, but we do not have sex.

"Then after a year and once it is decided that the relationship can be sustained we have an entire week of non-stop sex and passion to cement our relationship.” replied Aleena with a twinkle in her eyes.

"Our companies will even give the time off with pay. Relationships are so rare, so elusive that our planet tries to cultivate them. The more people in relationships, then the more stable the economy. At least that's the theory."

“You are a very handsome man. You have an athletic build. You must be around six feet tall, and you look, you remotely resemble that movie star Hugh Jackman. Do you know of that actor?” purred Aleena again running her fingers across his cheek. Her eyes twinkled and her look was very seductive.

David sheepishly nodded in acknowledgement. "Thank you. Some women have told me that before."

“We get signals from your entertainment satellites and watch all your television programs and movies,” continued Aleena as she ran her fingers through David’s thick, brown, hair.

"We even have transponders located between many of our planets and yours to assure good reception."

Is an extra terrestrial hitting on me? This is so weird, but she is so very beautiful. She had the poise, grace, and intelligence of a well educated woman. And I’m getting a hard on.

A warm giddy feeling came over David, and he had butterflies in his stomach.

This is crazy. I have the hots for someone who lives dozens or hundreds of light years away.

“David, do you find me attractive. I mean would I be someone who you could be interested in, and want to court?” asked Aleena in a very melodious voice standing within inches in front of him, looking up into his eyes and stroking his left arm.

David didn't answer right away and she continued.

“That spark of a relationship is also very elusive on my planet as well. I have a feeling for you, and that is very unusual. I have never been as comfortable with a man that I just met as I do with you this moment. I have a feeling like I have known you for a long time.”

Was she reading my mind too? Is there something she isn’t telling me?

The butterflies in his stomach just doubled, and he could feel his forehead beginning to break out in a cold sweat.

“Yes definitely. You are the most beautiful, intelligent woman that I have met in years. I am highly attracted to you." he just blurted it out.

"This is just so weird. You remind me of my late wife.”

“Oh.” said Aleena with a slightly dejected tone.

“No, no, not that way." he held up his hands in a placating gesture.

“I am not attracted to you because you just resemble her, but it’s these feelings that I am getting being here with you. I have not had these feeling in years. I feel I know you too, and want to know all about you. I feel like I have known you for longer than forty-minute or so that I have been in your saucer.” said David just slightly embarrassed. He put his hands on her waist. She smiled her
acceptance.

He drew here closer and she put her hand on the back of his head and stroked his hair and the back of his head lightly.

“I too am beginning to have some feelings about you. I feel comfortable talking to you. I feel comfortable about being with you, even though you are an earthling. I…”

Aleena didn’t have a chance to finish her sentence. Alarms sounded loudly throughout the saucer. There were lights flashing consoles all around the pilots chair.
